Juan Jose Hurtado
BACKGROUND
Juan José Hurtado is a transformational business leader with over 30 years of senior executive experience across Latin America & USA. Known for his “People-First” philosophy and passion for the future of work, he has held key leadership roles at global companies including ARMCO, AFP Integra, Unilever, and Laureate Education Inc. As President and CEO of Laureate Mexico, he led one of the network’s largest operations, serving over 200,000 students, where he successfully transitioned operations online in just two days during the pandemic. His strategic acumen also resulted in $20 million in cost reductions and marked improvements in market share and operating margins. Prior to this, he played a pivotal role in expanding student retention and academic reputation as Global SVP Learning & Innovation .
Juan José is currently a Vistage Chair, executive coach, and partner at AIMS-USA, where he supports organizations in building stronger leadership and talent strategies. He also leads HUMAND, a firm focused on driving organizational transformation through human-centered strategy and exponential technologies. He is an Industrial Engineer from the Universidad de Lima and holds an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona. His tenure at Unilever as VP of Human Resources for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean was marked by bold talent development strategies and significant operational efficiencies. Juan José continues to empower leaders and organizations toward sustainable, human-centric futures.
Beyond his professional life, Juan José is married to Elizabeth and proud father of three—Juan José (32), Álvaro (31), and Gabriela (21). He has been happily living in Miami since 2012, where he continues to build a future grounded in purpose, people, and possibility.
